Town Revaluation

In a revaluation, the market value of each property in town is estimated and that estimate becomes the basis of the assessment for the following year's tax, and for the four years following that. The process is mandated by the State of CT.

FAQs

1. When did the Town perform its last revaluation?

The last revaluation was effective October 1, 2018.

 

2. When is the Town’s next revaluation?
The Town's next revaluation will take place in 2023.

The 2018 revaluation has been completed:
Waterbury-based company eQuality was contracted by the Town of Canton to conduct the 2018 revaluation process. Assessment change notices have been mailed out. These new assessments will affect the July 2019 bills. For additional information call the Canton Assessor’s office at (860) 693-7842.

 

3. At what rate are properties assessed?

Properties are assessed at 70% of their fair market value as of the last revaluation.
