Beyond Downtown List
This corner has long been the site of a World War I era cannon built at the famed Waterveliet Armory in upstate New York. In 2001 the stone memorial was erected in honor of those who gave the ultimate sacrifice in World War I, World War II, Korea, and Vietnam. The Stone reads: “In grateful memory of the men who died in the service of their country and in recognition to all men and women who served that freedom might live, this monument stands so that future generations will always remember.”
