This street contains a mixture of Greek revival and turn-of-the-20th century vernacular styles. The duplexes at 34-36 Center Street & 30-32 Center Street were constructed about 1860 and may have been modeled on designs that architect George Keller used on Hartford’s Columbia Street. They are in the “shingle” style. Directly across the street on the corner of South Street (38 Center Street) is a good example of a Greek revival house with a later added front porch. The Greek revival house at 29 Center Street has a fine center doorway that exaggerates the significance of this small, one-and-a-half story structure with frieze band windows.
