Canton League of Women Voters Candidates’ Night is Oct. 21st.
What would you like to ask the people who hope to represent you? Bring your questions to Candidates’ Night, 7 p.m. Tues. Oct. 21 at the Canton High School Auditorium, 76 Simonds Ave.
Members of the audience will be able to submit questions that night that they would like to ask candidates. The League also encourages people to submit questions ahead of time to LWVCanton@gmail.com.
The League of Women Voters is hosting this opportunity for voters to become more informed about candidates in this November’s election.
A moderator will pose selected questions to candidates. Participating will be candidates for the 8th state Senate District (Kevin Witkos, the Republican incumbent, and Melissa Osborne, the Democratic challenger) and 17th state House of Representatives District (Tim LeGeyt, the Republican incumbent who is running unopposed).
The League is also sponsoring 5th Congressional District debate on Oct. 9 between U.S. 5th Congressional District candidates Elizabeth Esty, the Democratic incumbent, and Mark Greenberg, the Republican challenger. The debate will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Portuguese Cultural Center, 65 Sand Pit Rd., Danbury.
The League of Women Voters, unaffiliated with any political party, encourages informed and active participation in government, works to increase understanding of major public policy issues, and influences public policy through education and advocacy.
