9/10/2014 - National Bicycle and Pedestrian Data Collection program

National Bicycle and Pedestrian Data Collection Program

The Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG) will be participating in the National Bicycle and Pedestrian Data Collection program this year which will include sections of the Farmington River Rail Trail (FRRT) in Canton. Counts will be taking place at four locations along the FRRT on Wednesday, September 10th from 4:00pm to 6:00pm and Saturday, September 13th from 2:00pm to 4:00pm. A total of 6 volunteer counters will be needed to observe a location for 2 hours, noting how many bicyclists and pedestrians pass by. This information will provide useful information that can help the CRCOG in planning bicycle and pedestrian facilities.

The Canton Count Locations:

· Bridge Street and Front Street

· FRRT at Maple Street/Allen Place (location of flashers)

· FRRT at Route 44 (Lovely Street)

· FRRT across Route 179 (location of flashers)

The Canton Land Use Office is looking for folks who can participate in the count from 4:00pm to 6:00pm on Wednesday, September 10th and 2:00pm to 4:00pm on Saturday, September 13th. You can count at one location for one 2 hour shift, or if you are energetic, you can volunteer for more than one day and location. If you are interested, please contact Roland Klee at (860) 693-7892 or by email at rklee@townofcantonct.org. Thank you.
