Monday, March 4 – Friday, March 27- “Canton Schools Art Show,” at Canton Public Library. Art from the Canton schools will be on display throughout the library, in the Children’s Room, in the showcase display, and in the main gallery area during the entire month of March. Saturday, March 1, 2:30-3:30 PM—“Autism Awareness Seminar with Peter LaPorta,” at Canton Public Library.” LaPorta, author of Adventures in Autism, will give author talk, with book sale and signing to follow. LaPorta, the father of a son with autism, aims to increase awareness of autistic individuals as people in our own communities. Autistic people and their families can live full, productive lives in society, and LaPorta will share many families’ inspiring stories. Free; registration requested for seating set-up. Saturday, March 8, 2:00 PM—“Winter Music Series: The KC Sisters,” at Canton Public Library. From Avon, CT, multi-talented performers showcase vocal harmonies, country fiddling, acapella hymns, pop, jazz, standards, and country. The KC Sisters features five sisters and one cousin, ages 10 to 16 years, who play violin, bass, guitar, piano and drums. Experienced performers, they have played in many venues, including Better Connecticut, Fox 61 morning show, Port Chester Days, Blue Back Square, and a live radio broadcast on "The Real Radio Show" out of New York. Thursday, March 13, 3:30-4:30 PM. “New Teen Book Discussion Group reviews Divergent,” at Canton Public Library. Worldwide bestseller, Divergent, is about to be released as film in theaters on March 21st. Everyone welcome to chat and speculate about book and film while decorating cupcakes to represent the five factions! This casual “snack and chat” book group will last an hour and book copies are available in the library’s teen zone. Participants automatically entered into a raffle to win free movie tickets for Hoyts Cinemas in Simsbury. Everyone will receive free Divergent movie poster.
