10/16/2019 - Fire/EMS Dept & Big Y Community Bag Program

The Canton Volunteer Fire & EMS Department has been selected as a beneficiary of the Big Y Community Bag Program for the month of Nov 2019.

The Big Y Community Bag Program, which launched in January 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.

How the Program Works: During the month of November 2019, the Department will receive a $1.00 donation for every reusable Community Bag purchased, for $2.50, at the Big Y located at 255 West Main St, Avon, CT. The Community Bags are located on displays around the store and at the checkout counter.

Once the Community Bag is purchased, the customer has 7 days to register the unique identifier - on the Giving Tag pinned to the Community Bag - online at bigy.bags4mycause.com.  Once they register, they can designate the Department as a beneficiary from a list of community organizations provided by Big Y.

Chief of Department, Bruce Lockwood: “We are grateful to both Big Y and its customers for supporting this community program, which in turn supports our work and service.”
