4/15/2019 - National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week

A message from Police Chief Christopher Arciero to thank Canton's dedicated team of emergency dispatchers for being the life-line for all those in need:

The Canton Police Department is honored to be able to recognize the Town of Canton's Public Safety Dispatchers as part of this week's National Public Safety Telecommunicator Week.

The four full-time and four part-time dispatchers are the gatekeepers to the emergency services-police, fire and medical-that are provided for the Town of Canton.

Before and behind the scenes of every response by a police officer, firemen or ambulance/EMT technician who responds to an emergency call is the original recipient of the call for service —one of Canton's Public Safety Dispatchers.  On a daily basis, the Canton's dispatchers demonstrate an exemplary level of poise, professionalism, and triage to ensure the proper level of an emergency response is made.  Countless life-saving and dangerous incidents are properly managed from the onset due to the dispatchers' ability to ascertain the true nature and scope of the emergency.

During this week, I ask the community to keep in mind and thank the Canton Public Safety Dispatchers. Their work is exemplary, their commitment to public safety and security is unconditional and they are deserving of this small token of appreciation.  Canton is well-served by the silent heroism they perform every time an emergency arises.
