Canton Looking To Sponsor Families in Need for the Holidays

Residents of Canton: It is that time of year again; a time of caring and giving. Canton Senior & Social Services is hosting their annual holiday gift giving program and we are looking for families in need who wish to be sponsored. This program is a way to help families enjoy all traditions of the holiday season, regardless of religious affiliation.

We are also looking for sponsors for these families who would be willing to give a little extra to a family in need around the holidays. Sponsors of the past have included local churches, businesses, individuals, families, and community organizations.

If you are interested in being sponsored or sponsoring a family, please contact the Canton Senior and Social Services Office at (860) 693-5811 x6.

Monetary donations, as well as new toys, household items, clothing and gift cards, will be accepted until Friday, December 8, 2017, at the Canton Senior and Social Services Office located in the lower level of the Canton Community Center on Dyer Avenue.

The Canton Senior and Social Services Department provides assistance to individuals and families of all ages who live in Canton. The department offers referrals as well as assistance in applying for local, state and federal social services programs, assessing each situation on a case by case basis so assistance and supports are identified and coordinated to best meet the specific needs of the individual or family. Our mission is to help residents meet basic human needs while providing support and services to maximize independence.
