YOUR SILENT NEIGHBORS, Myron F. Butler, Newspaper Reporter

Born in Burlington, Myron Ferris Butler (1884-1965) lived in the Collinsville area his entire life. He graduated from Collinsville High School in 1901, and Hartford’s Huntsinger Business School in 1903.

Butler worked in the Collins Company office, retiring in 1956. He was the Canton correspondent for the Hartford Times for 25 years and joined the staff of the Hartford Courant in 1940, serving as Canton correspondent for another 25 years.

He was a long time member of the Collinsville Congregational Church and at his death was serving as Deacon Emeritus. He was a fifty-year member of the Village Lodge of Masons and a past master. He served in a variety of other Masonic capacities including as secretary and treasurer of the Past Master Association of his hometown lodge.

Butler died at his home at 47 High Street. A Masonic service was held at the Vincent funeral home on Albany Turnpike. The next day there was a service at his church with the Reverend Bruce F. Anderson officiating.

Myron F. Butler is buried in the Village Cemetery, Collinsville.
