Administrative Assistant – Immediate Hire

The Town of Canton is seeking candidates for the immediate hire of a temporary Administrative Assistant to the Senior/Social Services Director. This position is responsible for clerical and administrative functions in support of the Senior/Social Services Department. This is a temporary, part-time position with no benefits; Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Pay is $20.22 per hour.   An Associate’s Degree with two years experience in an administrative office, or a combination of education and experience with some social services experience is preferred.  Applications will be accepted until an applicant has been chosen. Canton Police Officer Positions
The Town of Canton is accepting applications for both entry level and lateral transfers for the position of police officer. Salary Range is $62,718 to $82,855.

Lateral transfers from POST Certified Officers or State Troopers will be required to successfully complete a written examination, drug screening, background investigation, polygraph, psychological, oral interview and physical examination. A copy of current POST certification must accompany the application. Salary range for lateral transfers is $66,727 to $70,804.

Chief of Department – Fire Service/ Emergency Medical Service

The Board of Selectmen is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Chief of the Town of Canton Volunteer Fire Service/ Emergency Medical Service Department. The successful candidate will meet the minimum standards as outlined in the attached job description The appointment by the Board of Selectmen, following consultation with the Chief Administrative Officer, is for a term of four (4) years beginning January 1, 2019, and ending December 31, 2022. The position currently receives an annual stipend of $10,000.

The Appointment Process:
Interested candidates should submit a written letter of interest, detailed resume and supporting materials describing abilities and skills and how these match against the minimum requirements of the position no later than November 16, 2018. After a review of the written submissions, a seven (7) member panel consisting of (3) representatives of the volunteer Fire/EMS Department along with two (2) members of the public and (2) Fire Chiefs from other towns will interview interested candidates. Based on the interviews, the panel will rank the top three (3) candidates who will then be forwarded to the Board of Selectmen for consideration.

The Board of Selectmen will interview the recommended candidate with the appointment to follow shortly thereafter.
