SUMMER YOUTH EMPLOYMENT PROGRAM

We are pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Summer Youth Employment Program. This program has two positions available. The Summer Youth Employment Program for 2017 is open to Canton youth who are town residents and must be between the ages of 16 and 17 as of June 26, 2017; the first day of the program. Youth in the program must have written permission from their parents or guardians, provide a copy of their most recent report card and (once selected to participate) submit Working Papers. Participants will receive $10.10 per hour and work 25 hours per week. Actual employment dates will be from June 26, 2017 through August 18, 2017, a period of eight weeks. This is a non-benefited, temporary position. Assignment will be explained and performed under the guidance of town staff to ensure a safe and efficient work environment. All work is intended to be meaningful, help motivate career consideration, develop good work habits and promote the Town of Canton. The required dress will be appropriate to the work assignment. Participants will work out of the Department of Public Works, Building Maintenance Division. The two positions will assist with various work assignments in several town buildings/grounds reporting to the Building Maintenance Supervisor.

Duties and Responsibilities:
*Office Work
*Emptying trash & recyclables
*Cleaning windows
*Vacuuming/Sweeping/Mopping
*Preparing rooms for meetings
*Weeding & watering flower beds
*Interior painting

Minimum Qualifications:
*All genders are encouraged to apply
*Must be available to work a range of hours between 7AM - 3:30 PM, Monday-Friday
*Ability to lift 15 pounds
*Ability to work in all types of weather (indoors, air conditioned buildings as well as outdoors in the summer heat, rain)
*Ability to work with supervision and independently
*Willingness to learn many aspects of the Building Maintenance Division

*Must be responsible, punctual and respectful
*Ability to interact with all town employees
*Excellent communication skills

TEMPORARY Part Time Tax Clerk 

The Town of Canton is accepting applications for a 10 hour a week, temporary part-time Tax Clerk. Applicants with strong cashier, typing, computer knowledge and customer service experience preferred. Must be bondable and work well with the general public, other employees and Town Officials. Pay range is $10.10-$15.00 per hour based on experience. Projected start date is June 23, 2017.
